Elon Musk announced on September 8, 2026, that Tesla has redesigned its Cybercab production process to run more than 5 times faster than conventional automotive manufacturing. The announcement came alongside a video from the official Robotaxi account showcasing Tesla's "unboxed" process at Gigafactory Texas. Unlike traditional assembly lines that build a car sequentially along a single path, unboxed manufacturing builds vehicle modules front end, rear end, battery pack, and side structures in parallel, then frames them together in a single final step. Tesla says this cuts the physical assembly line size in half and dramatically boosts capacity per square foot of factory. Tesla is targeting a cycle time of one Cybercab every 10 seconds, with a long-term goal of 5 seconds per vehicle. The Cybercab, which officially launched to the public in Austin on September 3, 2026, entered formal mass production in April. Tesla called the unboxed process "the first real revolution in automotive manufacturing in over a century." $TSLA.
