Donald Trump's Face On A US Dollar Coin

The United States Mint has officially released the 2026 Semiquincentennial President Donald J. Trump $1 Coin, with rolls and bags going on sale September 2, 2026 as part of the yearlong celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The obverse of the coin, designed by US Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna from an official White House photograph, features a portrait of President Trump alongside the inscriptions LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and the dual date 1776 ~ 2026. The reverse depicts the Presidential Seal, featuring the traditional bald eagle. The coin is struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a circulating finish, weighs 8.1 grams, and is composed of 88.5 percent copper, 6 percent zinc, 3.5 percent manganese, and 2 percent nickel. Each coin is legal tender at its $1 face value but has not been released into general circulation through the Federal Reserve. The US Mint is offering the coin exclusively in two collector products. Twenty five coin rolls are priced at $61, or roughly $2.44 per coin, and 100 coin bags are priced at $154.50, or $1.55 per coin. Product limits are 150,000 rolls and 50,000 bags, with a household order limit of two per product for the first 24 hours. Perhaps most notably, the US Mint has confirmed that 250,000 of the Trump dollar coins were struck on the Fourth of July at the Philadelphia Mint with a special JULY 4th privy mark and randomly interspersed throughout the rolls and bags. That works out to roughly one privy coin for every 36 struck. The special mark is a small two line inscription reading JULY over 4th, positioned to the left of Trump's portrait directly above the five pointed star in the lower left field. The Trump dollar makes Trump the second US president to appear on a coin during his lifetime, following Calvin Coolidge, who appeared on the 1926 Sesquicentennial half dollar exactly 100 years ago.
