NVIDIA is being called the missing link in Japan's entire artificial intelligence strategy following CEO Jensen Huang's visit to Tokyo. Counterpoint Research analyst Marc Einstein said the country has largely sat on the sidelines of the AI boom, but NVIDIA is now positioned to supply the infrastructure, models, and software Japan needs to build out its sovereign AI capabilities. The analyst highlighted plans for a national AI superfactory powered by 27,500 Rubin GPUs through government-backed Noetra, along with growing adoption of NVIDIA's Nemotron models by companies including SoftBank's SB Intuitions, Hitachi, NTT DATA, and Sakana AI. NVIDIA has also announced partnerships with Toyota, Honda, FANUC, and Kawasaki Heavy, aligning with Japan's plan to deploy 10 million AI-equipped robots across 18 sectors by 2040. Despite the strategic momentum, NVIDIA shares slid roughly 2 percent Friday amid the worst momentum unwind in 27 years. According to Citadel Securities data cited by Benzinga, leveraged ETFs have shed about 20 percent of their assets, with semiconductor ETFs down more than 22 percent in July, on pace for their worst month ever against software.
