After being blocked by neighbors and the city from building a 15-foot-wide home on a narrow lot in South Jacksonville Beach, owner John Atkins made a bold call. Instead of selling the lot back to the same neighbors who fought him, he built the only thing the city would approve, a 10-foot-wide house. The finished home includes two bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and even a one-car garage, all packed into a footprint that most builders would call impossible. Now it is on the market for 619,000 dollars. Listing agent Ryan Weatherhold says the price is appropriate for the area, but admits the project may have been driven as much by principle as profit.
