OpenAI just rolled out GPT-5.5 Instant as the new default model for ChatGPT. The company claims 52.5% fewer hallucinations on high-stakes prompts in medicine, law, and finance, 37.3% fewer inaccurate claims on user-flagged conversations, and a Terminal-Bench 2.0 score of 82.7%. It's also warmer, more concise, and pulls from past chats, files, and Gmail for personalized answers. Developers can access it via API as "chat-latest."
